THE BEST FRENCH TOAST RECIPE

French Toast

"French toast, known as pain perdu ("lost bread") in France, is a breakfast and brunch dish made with old bread slices that are soaked in a milk and egg mixture and fried until golden brown and crispy. Often served with fresh fruit and a glass of orange juice, French toast is one of America's favorite breakfast foods.."

French Toast is the perfect breakfast choice for any day of the week. It's easy to make, and it tastes incredible. The best part is that you can customize it any way you want. If you want to add an exciting twist to your traditional breakfast, try serving French Toast with fresh berries and homemade whipped cream -a recipe I love is linked HERE.

To make the French Toast, you'll need

Best Bread for French Toast

Both brioche and croissant (croissant toast) make delicious French Toast! Brioche is a great choice, a rich, buttery bread with a light, soft texture. These bread slices are sturdy, making them ideal for soaking up the egg mixture.

Another great option is a croissant. Croissants are known for their flaky layers, made from laminated dough, and should be eaten fresh or stored in an airtight container if you want to keep them for more than one day.

Preparing French Toast

To make French Toast, start by preheating a griddle to 350F. If you're using a pan or skillet, cook on Medium-High. Whisk together cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, eggs, milk, half and half, vanilla, and little fresh orange juice and zest, if using in a mixing bowl.

Place the brioche bread or croissant toast slices on a large cookie sheet and pour the egg mixture over them. Fry bread slices using unsalted butter until turned golden brown, then flip to cook the other side (3-5 minutes total).

These look so lovely! I love the idea of using pizza dough. We make TJ pizza all the time and often have like half a bag of dough left. Next time we do, I'll make these for breakfast the next day. Thanks for sharing :)
